This is a wide-ranging course offering a broad spectrum on herbal medicines, aromatherapy and flower essences. It deals with the history of the topic and then goes on to explain the cultivation and use of herbs for health propagation, nutrition and beauty. It will show you how to conduct consultations and prepare herbal remedies for your clients.

The course details the properties of almost 900 herbs and provides information on their habitat, what they can be used for and what effect they produce and contraindications (ie when not to use them). The course draws from a wide range of traditions including Chinese and Ayurvedic as well as Western sources.

You will also learn about aromatherapy oils, flower essence, tissue salts and, Bach remedies.

What can I do after the course?

Work as a Master Herbalist. Completion of the course will make you eligible to apply for a number of jobs working for herb product companies, or as a nutrition consultant – or maybe even a journalist or teacher. The course also includes some information about setting up your own alternative medicine business so you could also consider that route.

Further your training. Should you want to study further you could consider applying for a degree in Herbal Medicine.

At the end of this course successful learners will also receive a Level 5 NCFE Award Certificate of Achievement. Our course has been accredited under our NCFE IIQ Licence and the course measurable learning outcomes have been benchmarked at Level 5 (using Ofqual’s Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) level descriptors) to allow you to consider the depth of study, difficulty, and level of achievement involved.

What Are Your Study Options?

We aim to provide flexible, convenient arrangements for our students, so you can study through two methods:
Traditional paper-based;
Home study provides quick access to online course material and enables you to submit question papers to your tutor, and receive feedback and results, through your personal online student account. The online system also gives access to course material instantly.
Study Hours
We can only approximate the time it takes to complete a course at it will largely depend on your speed of learning and assimilation plus how often and how much time you can dedicate to study. You also need to complete a question paper after each lesson and these normally will take 1 – 2 hours.
The approximate amount of time required to complete the course is: 300 hours.

Learner Support And Assessments

This course provides unlimited access to your a personal tutor who will be a specialist in the field you are studying. Their role is to make sure you get appropriate and constructive feedback and to answer your questions and provide guidance on areas you are not sure about. You can contact them by phone, email or fax.
We also have a team of course advisors and administrators who will give you friendly and relevant advice on issues relating to your course and study. We will always try to make you feel like you’re not by yourself and that someone will help you if you get into difficulties with anything.

Assessment Method
There are question papers set after each session; these have to be completed and sent to your tutor to mark. Continuous assessment like this means that your progress is monitored regularly and that any problems or difficulties are identified and addressed as early as possible.
