About this Early Learning & Childcare Course

This course aims to equip students with the principles of good practice in dealing with children and provides the necessary knowledge and skills to enable them to work in a professional and competent manner in this environment.

The course follows the guidelines for the full QCF qualification and successful students can go on to the full qualification with this preparatory course under their belt. This course awards a level 3 certificate to successful applicants.

At the end of this course successful learners will also receive a Level 3 NCFE Award Certificate of Achievement. Our course has been accredited under our NCFE IIQ Licence and the course measurable learning outcomes have been benchmarked at Level 3 (using Ofqual’s Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) level descriptors) to allow you to consider the depth of study, difficulty, and level of achievement involved.

Early Learning & Childcare course Study Options
The Distance Education Academy aims to provide flexible, convenient arrangements for our students, so you can study through two methods:
1. Traditional paper-based; using a manual
2. Online study; provides quick access to online course material and enables you to submit question papers to your tutor, and receive feedback and results, through your personal online student account. The online courses system also gives access to course material instantly.
Study Hours
The Distance Education Academy can only approximate the time it takes to complete online courses as it will largely depend on your speed of learning and assimilation plus how often and how much time you can dedicate to study. You also need to complete a question paper after each lesson and these normally will take 1 – 2 hours.
The approximate amount of time required to complete the online course is: 120 hours.

Tutor Support
This Early Learning & Childcare distance learning course provides unlimited access to your personal tutor who will be a specialist in the field you are studying. Their role is to make sure you get appropriate and constructive feedback and to answer your questions and provide guidance on areas you are not sure about. You can contact them by phone, email or fax.
We also have a team of online course advisors and administrators who will give you friendly and relevant advice on issues relating to your online courses and study. We will always try to make you feel like you’re not by yourself and that someone will help you if you get into difficulties with your distance education.
Assessment Method
There are question papers set after each session; these have to be completed and sent to your tutor to mark. Continuous assessment like this means that your progress is monitored regularly, and that any problems or difficulties are identified and addressed as early as possible.
